I am interested in the way pictures form over time, how shadows change shape as leaves blow in the wind, and how we account for the experiential phenomena of such events. I create to feel the rotation of the Earth. I gather source material through chance encounters with forms of dynamic light filtration and extended studies of specific places, particularly within urban green spaces. Through a synesthetic lens, I draw upon a foundation in ballet and studies of alternative photography, the Support/Surface movement, plein air painting, and textile craft to create artworks. I explore intimacy with imagery and place by manipulating the tension between the inside and outside, and blurring the line between two and three dimensionality. The fabric is both a surface and a veil; both sides are painted. As material distillations of location, time, and perception, the artworks serve as poetic reminders that paying purposeful attention to the environment around us is critical for connecting with ourselves, each other, and nature.
